Kansas City Life Insurance Company, a recognized leader in the insurance industry, is seeking an energetic, self-motivated individual to join our Premium Collections department. The ideal candidate would meet the following requirements:
    QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or equivalent work experience is required
  • At least ten years of related accounting experience
  • At leave five years of managing accounting personnel and processes
  • At least five years of experience with servicing life and annuity policies
  • Demonstrated knowledge of financial services products with knowledge of life and annuity products a plus
  • Demonstrated high-quality customer service skills
  • Expertise level knowledge of life and annuity products for premium application purposes
  • Solid understanding of accounting policies, procedures, practices, and the related internal controls
  • Ability to identify requirements and operate complex computerized accounting systems
  • Experience in supervising, training, and motivating staff
  • Demonstrated effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Regular and reliable attendance and punctuality is an essential function of this position.
    DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Manage Premium Collections. Ensure the accurate and timely recording of accounting transactions, along with timely and accurate reconciliation of general ledger transactions and account balances. This includes the daily reconciliation of high priority bank accounts and other accounts weekly and monthly, such as suspense accounts, policy holder liability accounts and other asset type accounts.
  • Customer Services based problem solving for the application of premium and handling of disbursements with internal and external constituents, including agents, external vendors, customer services and claims personnel and others.
  • Contribute to the success of corporate financial reporting by ensuring the data integrity of key accounting systems and the generation of accounting accruals as needed. This involves assisting in the design, implementation and monitoring of key financial reporting controls.
  • Manage and develop personnel to ensure that productivity is maximized, corporate and departmental goals and objectives are met, resources are properly and effectively utilized, and operational systems are functional and deliver results.
